Duro-Last Roofs

The base resin that formulates the Duro-Last® membrane is polyvinyl chloride (PVC). When most people think of PVC, they conjure up images of plumbing pipe. But polyvinyl chloride is a lot like iron ore. Think of all the different applications that can be made from basic iron ore, from simple pot metal to materials that can withstand the tremendous forces of spaceship reentry. The Duro-Last® membrane is comprised of a polyvinyl chloride polymer blend that is reinforced with a high-tenacity, high-strength 18x14 threads-per-inch pattern and weft-inserted polyester scrim. The membrane contains a patented blend of UV stabilizers, UV absorbents, plasticizers, stabilizers, flame retardants, lubricants, and biocides, and it has undergone extremely rigorous testing by Underwriters Laboratories, Factory Mutual Research Corporation, and a host of other testing agencies to withstand the elements over time. 

The Duro-Last® membrane has been specifically formulated to be resistant to any chemicals found in rooftop applications that can compromise other membranes, from animal fats to caustic chemicals involved in the manufacturing process. This is a primary reason why many national chain restaurants such as McDonalds, Burger King, Applebee’s, and Red Lobster are National Accounts who accept nothing less than a true Duro-Last® roof. If the customer is concerned about a certain chemical found in their business, a simple call to the Duro-Last® Engineering Department will confirm or dispel their fears. 

Each and every individual roof that is manufactured by Duro-Last® in one of their seven manufacturing facilities is engineered and custom-prefabricated to fit exactly the dimensions and particular specifications for that particular roof. The roof is made in the factory’s controlled environment to fit the building for which it is intended. It must pass no less than 17 different inspection stations before it ever leaves the factory. The customer is not buying roll goods that are put together at the jobsite and subject to many variables, a concept that renders other roofing systems obsolete. 

The Duro-Last® roofing membrane is an ENERGY STAR® product. The membrane reflects 87% of the sun's harmful rays. The installation of a Duro-Last® roof will vastly improve the comfort level of the building while making a very real impact on the customer’s energy bills. The installation of a Duro-Last® roof also qualifies the customer for various energy grants. 

Duro-Last® is the pioneer and the nation’s largest manufacturer of custom prefabricated roofing systems. Approximately 80% of the field seams and roughly 95% of the remaining critical areas (penetrations, perimeters, and transitions from horizontal to vertical) are dielectrically welded under ideal factory conditions. 

Duro-Last® products can only be purchased and installed by qualified Duro-Last® contractors. Duro-Last® takes great care in selecting and training contractor who strictly adhere to their uncompromising level of integrity and superiority. The unique custom prefabrication process of Duro-Last® products speeds up the installation process while greatly reducing material waste and contractor stress.

When a Duro-Last® installation is complete, or if the customer is concerned at any time during installation, Duro-Last® will send out a corporate Quality Assurance Tech Rep who will carefully inspect every aspect of that installation, from fastener placement and seaming to the use of only Duro-Last® components and strict adherence to Duro-Last® specifications. Upon a successful inspection, acceptance and payment of all related invoices, the Tech Rep will issue the warranty to the contractor who will immediately issue it to the building owner. As John Burt, the Founder of Duro-Last®, was fond of saying, “We will never, ever, allow any bad product out there.”  

Duro-Last® has taken great care to provide the most comprehensive and inclusive warranties in the roofing industry. If the customer carefully inspects the competitor's warranty, they’ll find many exclusions which aren’t to be found on the Duro-Last® warranty. Our warranties come with the roof at no additional cost, and they cover parts, labor, repair, or replacement for the full warranty period. We’ve even witnessed Duro-Last® completely warranty applications that far exceed the warranty period if Duro-Last® missed inconsistencies with the specifications during the inspection process. 

Duro-Last® also provides Upgraded and Ultra warranties on an individual basis that cover gale-force winds and exceptionally large hail. 

Duro-Last® has taken their warranty programs to a whole new level to cover the building and its contents under the Duro-Last® warranty. If a Duro-Last® roof should fail due to product failure, anything under the roof is covered including loss of business or use of the building, a concept unheard of in the roofing industry. 

The Duro-Last® roofing system meets or exceeds major national fire, wind, and hail code requirements as well as regional approvals throughout the country. Duro-Last® is approved by Factory Mutual Research Corporation (FMRC), Underwriters Laboratories (UL), and major code agencies including the International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO) and Southern Building Code Conference International (SBCCI), among many others. Duro-Last® has also met or exceeded the stringent requirements for Metro Dade County Florida, which has the strictest building codes in the world.
